Everton could now end up being quiet in terms of new signings before the deadline this evening on September 1, according to Mark Douglas.

The iNews journalist has reported that the Toffees could take a real gamble with little action, as Alex Iwobi looks set to leave and join Fulham before 11pm.

Everton are said to only be interested in deals that improve them, but are struggling with a firm Leeds United as they look at Wilfried Gnonto yet again.

He wrote on Twitter: “Hearing Everton could end up quiet in terms of incomings tonight.

Only looking to do deals that improve them. Interest in Gnoto but Leeds seem to be standing firm. Could change, ofc. Feels like a gamble with Iwobi heading out.”

Shocking.

Wow, this would be a complete failure.

Sean Dyche would be pulling out his hair if he had any left, and there will be some hope that something can materialise before the clock strikes 11 later on.

Looking at the current squad, nearly any new signing would improve it, especially with Iwobi and now Neal Maupay set to move on from Goodison Park.

The pursuit of Gnonto has gone on for far too long, especially when you look at how stubborn Leeds have been to deal with this one compared to how quickly a deal for Jack Harrison was done.

Everton will have failed miserably if no new additions come in, and there will be huge pressure on the likes of Beto to make things happen after his arrival.

We can already picture the post-11pm admission that the club tried everything to bring in new signings, but it just wasn’t to be – and that will not go down well at all around Goodison Park.

Fingers crossed something changes.
