Everton transfer news as u-turn made on Demarai Gray and Lille
Everton made a turn on their stance to allow Demarai Gray to join Lille on loan on transfer deadline day, according to Romain Lafont.
The L’Equipe journalist reported that the Jamaica international appeared set to join the Ligue 1 side on September 1.
However, the Toffees had a change of heart and the 27-year-old did not leave the club on the final day of the window.
Lafont wrote on Twitter, “Everton made an about-face at the start of the evening regarding Demarai Gray which is why the Jamaican was not loaned out to Lille.”
Iwobi exit keeps Gray?
Gray looked to be out of the exit door at least two weeks ago and there seemed to be no way back into the team for him.
He was even dropped by Sean Dyche and there seemed to be the feeling that the sooner he’s out of the door, the better.
This would give the club money to rope in fresh faces, but he’s now set to stay at Goodison Park, for the foreseeable future.

The Saudi Arabian window is still open and even a move to Turkey is on the cards but he stays on post the normal European deadline.
Had Alex Iwobi not left for Fulham, an argument could’ve been made that Gray’s exit could be facilitated a lot quicker.
It remains to be seen whether or not they’ve made the right call for Iwobi and Gray.
In other Everton news, a club chief has revealed his plans to sign a first-team Toffees player imminently ahead of the deadline.
