Demarai Gray ultimatum emerges for Everton as transfer saga gets ugly

Everton have been given 24 hours to sell Demarai Gray by Al-Ettihaq, according to Ben Jacobs.

The CBS journalist reported via his personal Twitter account on Sunday (3 September) that Gray, 27, released a statement on Instagram, seemingly hitting out at Sean Dyche, because Al-Ettifaq were informed the Jamaica international won’t be sold.

Saudi Arabia’s transfer window doesn’t close until Thursday (7 September) and Jacobs claims that Gray wants to join Steven Gerrard’s side in the Middle East, who are offering a three or four-year contract.

What happened to Demarai Gray?

Gray hasn’t played a game for Everton yet this season as speculation swirls around his future at Goodison Park.

The former Leicester winger isn’t injured and it’s assumed that he’s been left out due to bring linked with a transfer to Saudi Arabia.

Sean Dyche didn’t seem to fancy Gray too much last season, leaving him on the bench for five out of the last six Premier League matches.

He had to play as a striker a lot due to injuries in the squad and that didn’t help the five-times Jamaica international’s opening impressions on the Blues’ manager.

Everton

It seems now that Everton have spoken to Gray and to Al-Ettifaq to tell him that he’s going nowhere.

Understandably, if he’s not been given a fair shot at Goodison under Dyche, he’s going to be a bit miffed by that.

Gray wants to go and play football first and foremost but he also probably wants to go to Al-Ettifaq for the money, which isn’t something we agree with at all.

It’s better off that all parties go their own way.

Everton could do with the money and they’ll benefit without Gray being in their squad as he’s clearly upset at how this transfer saga has unraveled.

In other Everton news, the club has suffered a £20million hit in yet another Farhad Moshiri failure.
