Demarai Gray among Jamaica ‘golden generation’ amid Everton controversy
Demarai Gray is among the Jamaican international “golden generation” set to take on Honduras and Haiti amid his controversy with Everton.
Honduran newspaper La Presna reported in their print edition (5 September, pg 36) gave the Reggae Boys such acclaim, but Gray faces his own issues back in England with his attempts to get a move to Saudi Arabia.
In an Instagram story, Gray claimed the club were showing him disrespect amid his links to a move to Saudi Arabia, with Fabrizio Romano claiming (5 September) that Everton are in “advanced” talks with Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.

Happy somewhere
One thing is for sure: Gray will be much happier playing for Jamacia than Everton at the moment.
The 27-year-old is clearly keen to leave Merseyside, and a move to Saudi Arabia is clearly on the cards. His Instagram post would not have impressed Sean Dyche and the Everton hierarchy, so a move looks more and more likely.
But at least he has Jamacia. Gray is among the “golden generation” of Jamaican footballers, with the squad including the likes of Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey, West Ham’s Michail Antonio and Fulham’s Bobby Decordova-Reid.
Their fixtures in the CONCACAF Nations League during the international break will give Gray some respite from the controversy that awaits him back in Liverpool.

Gray’s comment, clearly aimed towards the Toffees, was damning. He wrote: “Everton fans have always been great with me, but it’s so difficult to play for someone who doesn’t show you respect as a person.”
Clearly, some behind-the-scenes issues have occurred at Goodison Park, at the Birmingham-born boy does not see his future at Everton.
With 90mins reporting (4 September) that Gray is keen to end his relationship with the Toffees and make the big-money move, Everton fans will have to wait until the Saudi window shuts on 7 September to see if Gray will remain at the club.
