Everton to make contact with Al Ettifaq to complete Demarai Gray transfer – Fabrizio Romano

Everton are to make contact with Al Ettifaq on Wednesday to seal the final details of Demarai Gray’s exit, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist wrote on Twitter (6 September) that the Saudi Pro League club expect to sign the Jamaica international winger on a permanent transfer.

He added that the fee has already been discussed and now there are just the final details to complete to allow the 27-year-old to make his departure from Goodison Park.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs wrote on Twitter on Tuesday (5 September) that Everton had agreed an £8million fee with Al Ettifaq over the transfer.

Jacobs said Gray will be signing a four-year contract with the club.

A shame

The writing was on the wall with this one after Demarai Gray took to social media to hint that Everton manager Sean Dyche had shown him a lack of respect.

Once a player speaks out against the boss there is usually no chance of a reconciliation, and it is a shame that Gray opted to go down that route in order to secure a move away from Merseyside.

Having already lost Alex Iwobi to Fulham on transfer deadline day, seeing his already stretched squad depleted even further with the exit of Gray will be a blow to Dyche.

Everton

Gray has been one of the brighter spots in Everton’s squad over the past couple of difficult seasons, though consistency remains a huge issue for the winger.

In some ways, a parting of the ways is probably the right way to go for all parties, but the frustration for Dyche will be the inability to bring in a replacement now until January.

In other Everton news, James Garner has reacted to Alex Iwobi’s move to Fulham.
