Everton Women stance emerges as Real Madrid make record-breaking bid for Nathalie Bjorn
Everton Women have turned down a world-record bid for a centre-back from Real Madrid for Nathalie Bjorn, according to Amanda Zaza.
The Fotbollskanalen journalist reported on Tuesday (5 September) that the Spanish giants have made several offers for the Swedish international, but that the Toffees are keen to keep hold of her despite previously being open to a transfer.
But she said Los Blancos are still hoping to land a deal for the 26-year-old defender before the transfer deadline passes on Wednesday (6 September).
Risky
It’s a little risky for Everton to turn down an offer for Bjorn given that she is out of contract next summer and they could end up losing her on a free.
Zaza claims that Real Madrid have already set their sights on offering the defender a pre-contract in January that would see her join at the end of the season if they can’t get a deal done before then.
That would be a real blow to the Blues, not only because she is an exceptional player on her day, but also because a lot of money has been put on the table for her services.

It depends on whether they think there is any chance that she could sign a contract to remain on Merseyside beyond this season – something that feels unlikely with the lure of Los Blancos calling her name.
They do seem pretty set on keeping hold of her for the time being and they will be hoping that decision proves to be the right one as they look to improve on their sixth-place finish in the WSL this season.
