Everton concerns raised after 777 Partners late on £900,000 payment to British Basketball League

Concerns at Everton have been raised after prospective new owners 777 Partners were late in making a £900,000 payment to another of their business partners, the British Basketball League, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper shared via their website on 13 September that, although the payment has been made now, it arrived over a month after its scheduled payment date, which caused the BBL to be late in paying several creditors.

It is also shared that the late payment was discussed at a BBL board meeting, which was attended by 777 co-founder Josh Wander, and it has now been satisfactorily resolved.

Concerns keep adding up

It seems like with each passing day a new concern is raised over 777 Partners and their potential takeover of Everton Football Club. This is just the latest in a string of controversies raised as the group pushes for a majority stake in the club.

As shared in the Daily Mail report, the company have yet to confirm that they have the funding in place for a full-scale takeover, with many questioning whether it would be possible given the £1billion price tag placed on the club.

Not long ago, fans of Belgian side Standard Liege, who are also owned by 777, staged a protest in the stands against their owners. The banner accused 777 of “destroying” the club, after a poor start to the season and a sixth-placed finish last time out.

Everton fans have been campaigning for a takeover for ages now, having grown sick of the state of the club under current owner Farhad Moshiri, but many now fear what a takeover may mean for the future of the club.
