Farhad Moshiri to agree outline agreement for Everton sale as Premier League development emerges

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is in advanced talks with 777 Partners co-found Josh Wander and “an outline agreement could be close”, according to The Times.

Writing on The Times’ website on Wednesday (13 September), journalist Martyn Ziegler reported that 777’s bid to complete a full takeover of the Toffees could face delays due to new Premier League rules.

It is understood that a “lengthy process” is on the cards as there are “numerous issues” for the Premier League to look at, including a number of legal claims being made against the company and a historic drugs case involving Wander.

The Times claims that despite the likelihood of a protracted Premier League process, Moshiri and 777 are kicking on with their discussions and an outline agreement could be close.

What is an outline agreement?

Everton fans are praying for Moshiri to sell up and get out of Everton.

With 777, it may be a case of it being better the devil you know, rather than the one you don’t.

However, it’s unlikely that Evertonians will have much say here because when an owner is desperate to sell a club, he’s likely to attract the attention of people you’d rather not want in your boardroom.

According to The Times, talks are advancing to a stage where an outline agreement is close and that means that Moshiri and Wander could soon have a document in place that will set out the terms of a takeover.

A price is likely to be agreed and there may also be an expiry date because if this process takes, for example, a year to complete, there’s no guarantee Everton will be a Premier League club by then and 777 will want to pay less money for the club.

We’ll see how this pans out but it does seem as though the takeover has legs now.

It’s just up in the air as to whether it’ll be a beneficial one for the Toffees.
