Amadou Onana axed as Dominic Calvert-Lewin decision made – Everton predicted XI v Brentford

Sean Dyche could be set to make change to his Everton starting lineup as they look for their first Premier League win of the season against Brentford.

The Toffees were well beaten by Arsenal at Goodison Park on Sunday last time out, making it four defeats in the opening five games of the season and fans are now desperate for something to change to see results on the pitch.

Brentford are coming off their first loss of the season to Newcastle last weekend, and Dyche will know that he needs to find a way to replicate that result to ease the pressure around his job.

Everton

Jordan Pickford is undoubtedly the number one goalkeeper at the club and he will start every game so long as he is fit between the sticks.

Nathan Patterson found himself on the bench for the weekend fixture with Arsenal but he is more than good enough to start and his performances this season have been strong enough to justify that.

Vitalii Mykolenko should continue at left-back as the only natural option in the role, while Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski are comfortably the best options in the centre of defence.

That would mean Ashley Young either drops to the bench or moves into midfield, and the likelihood is that Dyche will want to call upon his experience so the latter seems more probable. Having Young on the wing provides a bit more protection for the defence, and means Dwight McNeil on the other wing gets a bit more freedom.

In the middle Idrissa Gueye is the natural holding option to keep things ticking over, and Abdoulaye Doucoure is the first name on the team sheet under Sean Dyche in an advanced area.

That means there is no space for £30m man Amadou Onana, who is likely to drop out and find himself on the bench.

Arnaut Danjuma is flexible and versatile enough to play across the front line and should get the nod just behind the striker with the freedom to float out wide and isolate full-backs.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is likely to be fit enough to feature after his facial injury and substitute appearance against Arsenal, but Dyche is more likely to stick with summer signing Beto from the start to ease the ex-England man back into action.
