£100m new Everton stadium twist emerges at Bramley-Moore Dock as Alan Myers shares what he’s been told

Everton are around £100million “in credit” when it comes to pay for the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via Twitter on Wednesday (20 September) that the Blues are currently in the black when it comes to paying for the £500million project despite Farhad Moshiri’s desperate efforts to raise funds.

After losing Alisher Usmanov’s funding, Moshiri has held talks with a number of parties and taken out loans to help pay for the 52,888-seater venue.

He’s now agreed to sell his majority shareholding at Everton to 777 Partners and despite all of this, Myers claims Everton have so far overpaid for the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium and that there’s no truth in rumours the club has no money.

“I believe we are around £100m in credit on the stadium project,” said Myers on Twitter on Wednesday night (20 September).

After being asked where he got his information from, Myers replied: “It’s what I’m told by someone who would know, just really contrary to reports that the club don’t have the money.”

What is happening with Everton’s new stadium?

Everton’s new ground is scheduled to be ready to host football at the start of the 2024/25 season and based on all the updates coming out of the club and the images that can be seen, it’s well on schedule.

However, the cost of the project has always been the main issue for Everton.

Moshiri hasn’t been able to afford that – as well as the running of the club – on his own and he’s always had Usmanov in the past to help him.

However, the UK government’s sanctioning of Russia-linked oligarchs led to Moshiri losing Usmanov’s backing and seeking investment from elsewhere.

Loans have been secured but, most importantly for Moshiri, a deal is now in place for him to sell Everton to 777 Partners.

However, there are major doubts about whether 777 can afford the takeover as well as all of Everton’s debts.

Being £100million in the black is obviously a good thing but we’re not sure as to how much has been paid off already out of that £500million.
