Simon Jordan clashes with Jim White live on air as Premier League owners ‘voice concern’ over Everton takeover

Simon Jordan and Jim White clashed over reports that Premier League owners are set to voice their concern at the Everton takeover process with 777 Partners.

The Miami-based investment company have agreed a deal to buy Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in Everton, despite worries about their own financial state amid charges of fraud in the USA.

But while White doesn’t understand why it has anything to do with them, Jordan was quick to defend any owners for having something to say while live on talkSPORT (21 September) as it does effect them since they’re all in the Premier League together.

Everton

“A number of Premier League owners, reportedly, set to voice concerns about Everton’s proposed sale to 777 Partners,” White said. “What’s it got to do with the other clubs?”

“No they won’t be voicing concerns they’ll be voicing an opinion, because that’s what you do. Because it’s in their league and it’s a subject matter of interest,” Jordan replied.

“But this lot were happy to have Abramovich. They were happy to have Mansour. They were happy to have the Saudis,” White responded.

“Everyone was happy to have Abramovich up until the invasion of Ukraine,” White pointed out, before Jordan delved further into what he expects to happen.

“What will happen is you will have a bunch of football owners, or their CEO’s if they don’t turn up, sitting there discussing the trevails of Everton behind a sniggered hand some of them, looking at the reality of who they’ve got coming in.”

When White asked if Jordan would have concerns if he were still an owner, he replied, “I wouldn’t care, I’d be worrying about my own problems.

“It’s human nature. If one of your constitutent parts is going to change ownership to a group of investors who might not pass the sniff test then you’re going to voice an opinion, it’s human nature.

“You might not be concerned by it and you might not be sticking your nose in or trying to block it, but you’ll be busy because that’s what we do. We’re busy.”

Concerns

It’s absolutely not surprising that other teams in the Premier League are taking an interest in our takeover considering the issues in recent years.

Everyone around us in the table will have one eye on our situation because of the potential of us going into administration and with the FFP charges that are set to be addressed next month, things are tense.

There are Toffees fans who are concerned about this takeover and what it actually means for our club so it’s probably a good thing that other clubs are watching too.

Some fans have become so caught up in getting Moshiri out of the club that they haven’t been looking at who may be coming in, and many will be aware that the devil we know could be the better option.

It’s a horrible situation to be in because we have absolutely no idea what the future of the club means, but at this point we have to let the process run its course and see what happens.
