Everton ‘vulnerable’ to January sales if 777 Partners takeover is blocked
Everton are “vulnerable” in the January transfer market if the takeover by 777 Partners fails to get the green light, according to the Mirror (23 September).
It was announced the Miami-based firm had agreed to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s 94 per cent stake in the club (Sky Sports, September 15) but the newspaper reported online that doubts remain as to whether the deal will get the go-ahead.
Everton also face an independent commission in October over alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play rules, while the Mirror stated the club are reliant on loans from 777 and MSP Sports Capital to cover monthly costs with Moshiri no longer willing to put money in amid a “worrying financial situation”.

The offshoot, the Mirror reports, is that the likes of Jordan Pickford, Amadou Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin could all be available for transfer in the January window if the takeover is blocked.
The Mirror wrote that it would be a “nightmare scenario” for manager Sean Dyche, who has already been dealing with a limited budget in the transfer market.
Concerning
You really do have to feel for Everton supporters right now.
On the one hand, there is little doubt that there is a desperate need for change in the boardroom with Moshiri no longer in a viable position to keep the club running.
On the other, there are serious concerns over the viability of 777 Partners, and there is no guarantee that they even receive the go-ahead to complete their takeover.

So there is almost an inevitability about the fact star players will have to depart Goodison Park if fresh investment does not arrive in order to keep cash coming into the club.
But it would be a hugely difficult challenge for Dyche if that were to happen, with the Toffees boss already dealing with limited numbers in his squad. If one of their top players were to depart then it would make life extremely difficult amid what is likely to be another battle against relegation.
