Ian Ladyman shares Everton v Luton prediction after fans went wild
Everton will beat Luton Town in their Premier League clash as the Toffees are “feeling good”, according to Ian Ladyman.
Writing online for the Daily Mail (28 September), the journalist suggested that the mood at Goodison Park has been lifted significantly since their consecutive wins against Brentford in the Premier League and Aston Villa in the League Cup, while Luton remain under pressure.
Ladyman pointed to the back-in-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin, suggesting his two goals in the last two fixtures could help keep the Toffees on top form.

Ladyman wrote: “[Calvert-Lewin] will feel as though he is on a roll and so will his team. It’s only two games but that doesn’t matter. Sometimes it doesn’t take much to transform a mood and lift a season.
“I don’t know about you but I fancy Everton tomorrow. They will be feeling good whereas Luton — one goal in open Premier League play all season — will feel flat. And Edwards, in part, will be to blame.”
Momentum building
Very early predictions had many tip the Toffees to go down this season, while most people expected Sean Dyche’s side to be in a relegation dogfight at the very least.
While the season is still young, Everton’s uptick in form and performance has many reassessing the Merseyside club. Before their last two fixtures, the Toffees struggled to score goals, and Calvert-Lewin’s facial injury did not help matters at all.
However, the Englishman has returned from injury on fine form, and will certainly look to continue his hot streak when Everton welcomes Luton to Goodison Park.

Every single side in the Premier League would expect to get three points. Even promoted sides Sheffield United and Burnley would need them if they want any chance of survival. This fixture has come at an opportune time, with the Toffees’ top form likely to be enough to avoid an upset.
Everton still need points of their own if they want to stay away from the bottom three. The three points at the Gtech Community Stadium were enough to climb out of the relegation zone, but an expected win against the Hatters could see them into midtable after gameweek seven.
A club in Everton’s situation, both financially and in terms of squad depth, must build on every piece of momentum possible, and their next league clash is the ideal opportunity to do so.
