Cody Gakpo scan results emerge for Liverpool v Everton after injury scare – James Pearce
Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo is set to be sidelined until after the international break and could return for the Merseyside derby clash against Everton, according to James Pearce.
The Athletic journalist, writing on their live blog (2 October) shares that a scan has since alleviated fears that he’s facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but Gakpo is expected to miss their European clash against with Union Saint-Gilloise at Anfield and Sunday’s Premier League trip to Brighton.
However, it is believed that if his recovery goes to plan, he may be available for selection in the clash against Everton at Anfield on 21 October.
Not good news for Everton
Everton fans will have been forgiven for thinking that Gakpo could well be missing from their clash at Anfield on 21 October but it certainly seems as if he will be fit in time for that game.
The Toffees are in a tough spot at the moment after their dreadful result against Luton Town at the weekend and Dyche will be hoping his team can pick up some much-needed results before that Merseyside derby clash.

Everton face off against Bournemouth next weekend and a win is of paramount importance for them to enter the international break with some renewed hope and confidence.
When that break ends, Dyche and his men are certainly in for a baptism of fire at Anfield and given their dreadful record on Liverpool’s turf in recent seasons, the omens certainly don’t look good right now.
That’s why it is of crucial importance that they pick up a win against Bournemouth this weekend, or it could well be curtains for Dyche and his Everton future.
In other Everton news, two players are reportedly “under pressure” following their performances against Luton.
