Sean Dyche may regret Ashley Young Everton transfer already after another woeful performance v Luton Town
Everton were unable to make it three wins unbeaten as Luton Town produced a shock 2-1 win on Saturday and Sean Dyche may now be regretting his decision to sign Ashley Young.
The Toffees’ wait for a first Premier League win at Goodison Park this season continues as goals from Tom Lockyer and Carlton Morris ensured that the Hatters registered their first Premier League win in what was a very disappointing afternoon for Dyche’s side.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin did manage to score his third goal in as many appearances but the problems and pressure have reared their ugly head once again as Everton lost a fourth straight home league fixture.

The Toffees had been high in confidence before the game, having won back-to-back games away at Brentford and Aston Villa, but this was an embarrassing result and one player in particular who is currently leaving plenty to be desired after his much-anticipated transfer over the summer is veteran star Young.
It’s safe to say the former England international hasn’t particularly backed up the fan’s excitement since his free agent move over the summer, showcasing another woeful display at the weekend which could force Dyche into an unexpected decision over his long-term future at Goodison Park.
His performance against the Hatters was yet another unconvincing and hapless in a handful of worrying showings in his new surroundings.
Another of his worst performances in a Toffees shirt came in the 3-1 win over Brentford where he won just 42% of his ground duels, recorded just 44 touches, failed to complete a single one of his crosses, lost possession of the ball 11 times and failed to complete any of his dribbles [SofaScore].
Against Arsenal before that it was a similar story, the former Manchester United full-back could not lead his side to a capable and solid performance let alone an unlikely victory, winning just one of his ground duels, successfully completing 56% of his passes, recording just 34 touches, losing possession 12 times, failed to complete a single cross, dribbled past once and recorded just one tackle [SofaScore].

Now, with this latest woeful performance, Dyche could well be having serious regrets over his decision to sign him on at Goodison Park.
As per SofaScore, Young played just 78 minutes and was correctly chalked off for Nathan Patterson who should now be expected to replace him in the starting line-up from now on. The former Aston Villa full-back won just one of his duels all game, lost possession of the ball 11 times, completed just one of his four crosses, completed 0% of his dribbles and more crucially, made a critical mistake in the lead-up to Luton Town’s opener.
It was a disappointing afternoon for the veteran right-back who should have cleared quicker to prevent Lockyer’s opener but took too long on the ball and allowed the Luton defender to break the deadlock.
Had that been Patterson on the goal line, he would have certainly had the presence and quickness of mind to clear the ball away from danger, but again it was another costly and dreadful performance from the Everton veteran which may well lead some fans to conclude that the 33-year-old is now very much past his sell-by date.
