Sean Dyche sack decision may now just be days away if Everton lose v Bournemouth as Journalist shares ‘intense’ verdict

Sean Dyche is under tremendous pressure to get the right result as Everton take on Bournemouth and another bad result could well mean a possible sack decision is just days away ahead of the international break.

The Toffees saw their two-game winning run halted abruptly by Luton Town at Goodison Park last week as the newly promoted visitors claimed their first top-flight win of the season.

Everton now sit outside of the relegation zone on goal difference alone after six games and the pressure is growing on Dyche to start picking up points and ease the talk about his job.

However, with the international break beckoning, it is the time that clubs decide to pull the trigger if things are going wrong so they have ample time to call in a replacement and that could be Dyche’s undoing should Everton record another worrying result on home turf on Saturday.

Former Eurosport journalist Dean Jones told Give Me Sport on Friday (6 October) that a loss could be decisive for Dyche’s stint at Goodison Park.

Jones said: “We are approaching the stage when it is typical for a top-flight manager to lose their job, and Dyche is one man who could be under the microscope in the international break if things go wrong for him this weekend.

“Everton’s defeat to Luton was a real blow, and this clash against Bournemouth already has the feel of a six-pointer. Iraola has plenty to prove himself after a slow start in England, but Dyche is probably under most pressure to win on Saturday, and if this one goes wrong, things will get pretty intense.

“If they lose to Bournemouth, they will be looking with some trepidation towards the next match because it’s against Liverpool! That game in a couple of weeks is not one any club would look forward to, but for Everton, if they are out of form and confidence, it could feel even worse. The fan base seems split on their feelings towards the manager’s future, but you wonder if this is a decisive time for Dyche to stay in his job.”

The Toffees have found a win at home hard to come by so far this season, with all three of their games there ending in defeat against Fulham, Wolves and Luton – all three games which would have ended differently had Dyche’s men lived up to their xG.

Jones is absolutely right, Everton face off against Liverpool immediately after the international window in which a result may not be guaranteed and that makes Saturday’s game (7 October) all the more crucial as the former Burnley boss looks to navigate his team away from the drop zone.

Everton Farhad Moshiri

Farhad Moshiri and the Everton board simply cannot afford another dreadful relegation fodder after the last two campaigns engrossed in one and a defeat against the Cherries could point to that inevitable future again.

The majority shareholder is in the process of relieving his shares to American investment firm 777 Partners and what kind of message will another potential relegation battle send to his hopeful business transaction?

Should Everton lose this weekend against Bournemouth, a brutal sack decision on Dyche may well just be days away.
