Journalist provides injury update on Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye ahead of international duty with Senegal
Idrissa Gueye will link up with Senegal for the international break despite his injury score for Everton against Bournemouth.
The midfielder was originally named in the line-up for Saturday’s (7 October) clash against Bournemouth but was hurt in the warm-up and replaced by Amadou Onana.
Everton went on to win the game 3-0 without Gueye, but Mahmoud Gueye – a journalist for Senegalese news outlet Taggat – said he was contending with heel pain and will be fit for the upcoming friendly against Cameroon (16 October).
“Gana Gueye, who was also injured during the warm-up on Saturday with Everton, will also be present,” he wrote on Twitter.
“He just had some heel pain, but he will be operational.”
Good news
It is fair to say Everton did not exactly miss Gueye as they ran riot against struggling Bournemouth to earn just a second win of the Premier League season and end a run of four straight home league defeats to start the campaign.
Having said that, Sean Dyche has a threadbare squad to work with this term and he will obviously not to want to lose any of his squad for significant periods of time, especially someone who can be influential as Gueye is to their midfield.

While it looks as though the injury is not too serious, Dyche may be feeling a little nervous about him travelling with his national team and risk exacerbating his issue before returning to Goodison Park.
On the flip side, if he is fit, then it is a good opportunity to get some minutes in the legs and test the pain in his feel. You get the feeling that Dyche might just be watching with a few nervous glances, though.
