Everton transfer news as bid tabled for Corinthians forward Wesley

Everton have tabled a bid of £6.9million (€8m) for Corinthians forward Wesley, according to journalist Alexandre Praetzel.

The Radio Bandeirantes presenter provided details on Everton’s interest in a video posted on his Twitter account on Wednesday (11 October).

As per Brazilian outlet Diario de Torcedor, Praetzel claims that Everton made the offer to Wesley’s agent, with Corinthians said to own around 70% of the player’s contract.

Other European clubs are supposedly monitoring the teenager.

Tiny fee

It is fair to say this speculation has come out of the blue.

Everton have stuck to what they know in terms of incoming transfer activity in recent windows, recruiting players from England and elsewhere in Europe.

But as the signing of Youssef Chermiti from Sporting CP shows, the Toffees are not afraid to recruit young players with relatively little experience.

Wesley only turned 18 in March, but he has made 16 appearances already for Corinthians’ senior side, scoring once and assisting another.

As per Transfermarkt, the youngster plays across the front line, although he is predominantly used out on the left.

The £6.9m offered to Corinthians is peanuts in today’s market, but it is unknown exactly what the Brazilian side’s stance is – or indeed the player’s.

However, given Wesley is under contract until 2027, you would imagine Corinthians would be reluctant to leave for that fee.

In other Everton news, a journalist has hit out at Farhad Moshiri’s “absolutely appalling” running of the club.
