Journalist issues reaction as Jean-Philippe Gbamin parted ways with Everton
Paul Brown believes that Jean-Philippe Gbamin was the worst signing of the Farhad Moshiri era at Everton due to the transfer fee and the lack of appearances.
According to the BBC, they shelled out a £25million transfer fee to sign the Ivorian midfielder in the summer of 2019.
He has since struggled with injuries and left Goodison Park this summer as his contract was cancelled with immediate effect.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Brown, a journalist who’s featured in the Daily Mirror, said, “It’s nothing to do with the player himself, because he has been very unlucky, but you have to say that Gbamin will go down as the worst signing of the Moshiri era.
“He was brought in, and they expected him, to be a key part of this team for years. They signed him after letting Idrissa Gueye go. Gueye was really, really important to the team, and they needed to get his replacement right.
“Unfortunately, it was just one disaster after another for Gbamin at Everton, simply because he constantly got injured and was not able to play.
“It’s very hard to blame him for that but – because of the financial outlay on him, the timing of the transfer and how much they expected compared to how little they got – you’d have to say that was probably the worst signing that they’ve made. But there are quite a lot of contenders.”
Undoubtedly
Gbamin’s signing sums up just how disastrous the Moshiri era has been at Goodison Park and it’s perhaps the worst in recent times.
The club looked to be on the precipice of being the best of the rest and had a team that was well-built by David Moyes.

Money was there to be spent a new stadium was on the horizon so they could’ve gone the way Brighton did.
However, money was spent on the wrong players with Moshiri listening to agents instead of hiring competent football people to make these decisions.
Marcel Brands was also a flop as a sporting director and nothing really seemed to make any sense at Goodison Park after a certain point.
Gbamin spent last season on loan and despite being a free agent, nobody’s signing him which only goes to show the calibre of player the club has been signing.
In other Everton news, a condition has now emerged on Sean Dyche being sacked amid trouble behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
