Everton must move quickly to land Assan Ouedraogo as Sky Sports drops £15m transfer news

Everton seemingly never have it easy when it comes to signing new players, and that looks certain to be the case with their next target.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg (16 October), the Toffees are chasing Schalke youngster Assan Ouedraogo.

But Plettenberg noted that the club’s Merseyside rivals Liverpool are also interested in the 17-year-old, as are fellow Premier League outfit Brighton.

But there isn’t just English interest in the Bundesliga 2 teenager, with Sky Sports (17 October) reporting that both Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are keen on bringing the midfielder into the Bundesliga, with Italian giants AC Milan also keen on a move for Ouedraogo.

Sky Sports also noted the potential fee that the youngster could go for, with £10million-£15million reportedly how much he will cost.

The teenager is currently under a development contract at Schalke, with that deal set to become professional next May.

Everton fans would, of course, welcome any new additions with open arms given their current struggles in the Premier League.

The Merseyside outfit certainly have financial difficulties, but the £15million fee shouldn’t be too much of a stretch, particularly amid the impending takeover by 777 Partners.

It is, however, the lengthy interest in the player from other clubs, with those other clubs well ahead of Everton when it comes to appeal.

It all means the Toffees would have to move very quickly in order to beat everyone else to Ouedraogo’s signature, with the club set to be massively boosted if they did indeed emerge victorious in that race.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have a long way to go this season despite a positive statistic emerging, with the club second only to Tottenham.
