The Toffees announced in a statement on their website on Tuesday (24 October) that the club’s long-serving chairman passed away on Monday (23 October), surrounded by his family and loved ones.
talkSPORT host White tweeted on Tuesday that it was “such sad news” and that the Liverpool-born man “loved his club and all of its many values”.
Sky Sports journalist Myers also took to Twitter to pay tribute to Kenwright after sharing a good part of his life alongside him, personally and professionally, adding that the pair had “many ups and downs” in their relationship but that was what it was like “knowing Bill”.
Sad day
It’s an extremely sad day for Everton and there is no doubt that all those associated with the club will be mourning Kenwright’s loss after the news has been announced this evening.
As White pointed out, he did absolutely love the Toffees as he was the longest-serving chairman for more than a century.
After becoming a board member in 1989 and his True Blue Holdings consortium took control of the club in 1999, he became the Blues’ chair in 2004.

Kenwright will be fondly remembered for helping deliver 12 top-eight finishes during his 19 seasons as chairman on Merseyside.
He was a popular figure within the footballing world as a whole and there will be an outpouring of messages coming in for him over the next few days.
The club will now mourn together and there will no doubt be a special tribute paid to him when they next play at Goodison Park on 1 November in the Carabao Cup against Burnley.
