Everton dealt blow as Maximilian Beier agrees new Hoffenheim deal despite ‘concrete’ transfer interest

Everton have been dealt a blow in their chase for Maximilian Beier after he agreed a new contract with Hoffenheim until 2027, reports BILD.

Writing on their official website (25 October), the German news outlet report that the striker has penned a new four-year deal with the bundesliga club which has a release clause included.

His previous deal was due to expire in 2025 and Everton were among the clubs interested, along with Brentford and Liverpool.

“True – despite the concrete interest of Brentford and Everton, Maximilian Beier (21) signed a new contract at Hoffenheim until 2027, including a release clause,” Christian Falk wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“With 6 goals the striker is in the top five of the Bundesliga (top scorers list). Also Liverpool scouted Beier.”

Blow

There seems to be a big push for Everton to continue pushing for strikers in the transfer window, despite the signings of Beto and Youssef Chermiti in the summer window.

No doubt that scoring goals is still a problem but with Dominic Calvert-Lewin still scoring goals when he gets the chance and Beto impressing despite not scoring, is there much need for another striker?

Everton

Beier has been excellent in Germany right now and is flying, and at 21 he would no doubt be a signing for the future but there should definitely be some cold water poured on this speculation.

Sean Dyche likes a proper old school forward who can hold the ball up and bring others into play, and Beier isn’t really that type of forward. With the others in the squad performing well, it seems unlikely that a deal like this would be pursued.

Now with a release clause the fee will be obvious and Everton will know how to get a deal done if they really want to, but a new deal means any deal is now unlikely to happen in January.
