Roy Keane blasts Jack Harrison after ‘huge’ incident in Everton victory v West Ham United

Roy Keane has blasted Jack Harrison after an incident in the first half of the Everton game against West Ham on Sunday (29 October).

Speaking at half-time on Sky Sports Main Event on Sunday (29 October, 01:56pm), the pundit said there was a lack of belief, confidence and quality from the 26-year-old winger as he failed to convert a big chance in the 1-0 win at the London Stadium.

He added that it was a “huge moment” for the Blues as it was a great opportunity for them to take the lead in what he believes was a “poor game” at that point.

“It’s poor from West Ham but it’s a reflection of the game – that decision making, that quality and being decisive,” said Keane. “It’s a great run and he’s just got to bide his time. Now. Just give the pass and then he’s square for a tap in.

“Lack of belief, lack of confidence, lack of quality. It just reflects on the game. It’s been a really poor game but this is a great opportunity for Everton and they’ve got to take these chances. It’s a huge moment in the game.”

Clinical edge

It didn’t prove costly in the end for Everton, but Harrison would have expected to have done much better from that position given his quality.

The winger did well to intercept Lucas Paqueta in the West Ham half, but he showed no conviction with his finish and should have done more to work Alphonse Areola.

He also had a couple of decent options to play in either side of him, so he needs to show more of a clinical edge to take advantage of those opportunities.

The Englishman has played fairly well since he signed for the Toffees on loan from Leeds United, but he will know there he is plenty more to come from him this season.

It was an excellent result for the Blues overall, though, and they can be very happy with their afternoon’s work as they head back to Merseyside with all three points.
