BBC journalist shares Farhad Moshiri attendance news for Everton v Burnley EFL Cup tie at Goodison Park
Everton owner Farhad Moshiri could be in attendance at Goodison Park for the first time in over two years for the EFL Cup tie with Burnley, according to Shamoon Hafez.
The BBC Sport journalist shared the update on his personal Twitter page on Wednesday (1 November) ahead of the last-16 tie taking place on Merseyside.
Moshiri agreed to sell his full 94% stake in Everton to American investment fund 777 Partners in September, although that agreement must still be ratified by the Premier League and other bodies.
Hafez tweeted: “Carabao Cup action tonight with Everton v Burnley. It’s the first game at Goodison Park since the passing of chairman Bill Kenwright and tributes will take place before kick-off.
“Owner Farhad Moshiri could be in attendance for first time since Oct 2021.”
Fitting send-off
Moshiri may be a figure of hate at Goodison Park, but some matters are simply more important than football.
The passing of chairman Bill Kenwright last week was a tough one to take for everyone involved with Everton – Moshiri among them.
Should he wish to pay his respects to Kenwright at Goodison Park, he has every right to do so.

Everton gave a fitting tribute with their 1-0 win over West Ham at the weekend, but this is their first game at Goodison since Kenwright’s passing.
Everyone in attendance will have a chance to pay tribute to Kenwright, with a short ceremony planned ahead of kick-off.
Only then will focus truly turn to football matters, with Everton eager to book a place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
That really would be a nice way to say farewell to the long-serving club stalwart.
In other Everton news, a fringe player will be looking to prove a key figure at Goodison right against Burnley.
