Everton: Journalist shares David Dein verdict as 777 Partners update emerges on Goodison Park takeover

The Esk insists that having David Dein involved in any part of the 777 Partners takeover at Everton “is not a positive in any sense”.

Writing on his Twitter account on Monday (6 November), the journalist outlined Dein’s history with Alisher Usmanov and Farhad Moshiri.

It comes on the back of a report by Josimar [6 November] suggesting that former Arsenal and FA vice-chairman Dein is supporting 777’s proposed takeover.

“David Dein wanted Usmanov and Moshiri to run Arsenal,” The Esk said in response.

“When that failed he helped install Moshiri at Everton. Having Dein involved is not a positive in any sense.”

Experience

Dein’s involvement behind the scenes at Goodison Park had already been mooted after he was spotted in the stands against Burnley last week.

The 80-year-old clearly has plenty of experience at boardroom level, not least from his near quarter-of-a-century spell at Arsenal.

But his close association with Usmanov and Moshiri in particular taints his involvement in the deal somewhat.

More damning than the news of Dein playing a role in this deal is that 777 Partners allegedly did not disclose “huge” losses of £480million.

It appears that the questions regarding this takeover are mounting further by the day, with Everton fans left questioning what is best for the club.

While Dein may have experience at the highest level, he will not exactly be acting with Everton’s best interests at heart – why would he?

Usmanov may be gone, and Moshiri set to follow, but it is looking unlikely that all the Toffees’ problems are going to be resolved under 777.

In other Everton news, a BBC reporter shared an update on the takeover situation on Monday afternoon (6 November).
