BBC journalist shares Monday update on 777 Partners takeover at Everton after ‘huge’ losses report

777 Partners has submitted all the documents requested by the Premier League and remains hopeful of completing its takeover of Everton by the end of the year, according to BBC journalist Shamoon Hafez.

Josimar reported on Monday (6 November) that the American investment fund had not disclosed “huge” losses of £480million ($600m) between June 2021 and June 2022 to regulators.

However, Hafez provided an update on the situation behind the scenes at Goodison Park on his personal Twitter page later on Monday.

“777 Partners have submitted all the documents requested by the Premier League and Financial Conduct Authority,” Hafez said.

“Still hopeful of completing the takeover of Everton by the end of the year.

“PL will have final say on approval once Owners’ and Directors’ Test is completed.”

Question marks

Another day, another negative story relating to 777 Partners. If the report by Josimar is anything to go by, just how can the Americans be trusted to run a football club of Everton’s stature?

However, if all the documents requested by the Premier League and other relevant bodies have been handed over, then any irregularities will surely be spotted.

Everton

The aforementioned £480m sum is a pretty staggering amount to be brushed under the carpet, but it is not the first time 777’s finances have been in the spotlight.

All Everton supporters can do is sit tight and wait for these checks to be concluded, likely before the end of the year, but you can be certain that more questions will be raised between now and then.

As desperate as fans are to get Farhad Moshiri away from Goodison Park, yet again we are left asking whether a change of ownership would actually be wise if it falls into the hands of 777 Partners.

In other Everton news, a report claims that the Toffees were unsuccessful with a £17m+ move for a player during the summer window.
