Jim White and Simon Jordan react immediately to Everton point deduction

Jim White and Simon Jordan have reacted immediately with shock after Everton were docked 10 points for breaching FFP by the Premier League.

It was announced on Friday afternoon (17 November) that the Toffees would be deducted 10 points immediately, dropping them down to 19th place in the league table.

And reacting to the news live on talkSPORT (17 November, 12:22), White said they had been “walloped” while Jordan admitted he was shocked by the significance of the penalty.

“They have been walloped this lunch time, haven’t they?” White said.

“Yeah,” Jordan began. “I was told about six weeks ago that the expectation was that they were going to get 9 points.

“I didn’t think they’d get that that’s why I changed my argument from a financial-based one to a points-based one. I tohught they’d get 3-6 (points deducted). That may well be the outcome post an appeal, but the fact of the matter is they are a product of timing alongside the fact that they’ve been, I think, slightly artistic in their accountancy.

“Because the Premier League’s attitude now is that they’ve got an independent regulator coming in. The timing of this is that they want to be shown that they can clean house, and cleaning house means enforcing things like FFP and the disciplines behind it. So I wonder if this had been two or three years ago if Everton would have got the same situation.

“But 10 points is a significant penalty and I’m not surprised they’re appealing it. They’ll probably argue it down. But they’re going to get a points penalty, there’s not an argument that they’re going to get this removed away.”

Madness

The fans are being punished once again for a situation they had nothing to do with, and the Premier League are desperately trying to make an example of Everton.

We were working alongside the league with our financial situation and it’s clear that the sanction handed down to us is far too harsh and wholly disproportionate to what is actually happening.

Everton were charged with a single breach while Man City have 115 charges just sitting there waiting to be heard while they splash £100m+ on footballers every single summer and it’s ridiculous.

We have to appeal and fight to keep this club afloat, because ultimately judging by history we would have got a lesser punishment for going into administration.

Everton have been screwed here and we can’t just allow it to happen because the independent commission have decided it should. We must appeal and fight and the club must be united now to fight through this.

In other Everton news, TalkSPORT pundit tells Toffees to “take that” amid reported punishment.
