Luke Shaw in line to return from injury for Manchester United v Everton

Manchester United have been handed a “major boost” ahead of their clash with Everton on Sunday after Luke Shaw returned to training, the club announced.

Writing on their official website (22 November), the Red Devils reported that the England international was training this week having been out since August with a muscle injury.

Everton are set to host the Reds at Goodison Park on Sunday in the first game since being deducted ten points, making it a must-win game for Sean Dyche’s side.

“Manchester United have received a major boost ahead of the return to Premier League action, with Luke Shaw back in training,” they wrote.

“Our cameras at Carrington have captured images of the left-back working with the main group, in advance of Sunday’s game at Everton (16:30 GMT kick-off).”

Blow

While it’s a major boost for Manchester United to have Shaw back, it’s a blow for Everton heading into the game on the back of a disappointing international break.

United have had big problems with their defence this season with a host of injuries, especially at left-back, and with Jack Harrison in flying form for the Toffees it would no doubt have been an area to target in the game.

But Shaw being fit and in line for a return this weekend, they are getting one of their best players back in time for a difficult trip and that no doubt makes our job harder.

After three months out injured though he will no doubt be a bit rusty and Dyche will know that running at him constantly and testing that fitness could be the window to a victory.

A win could see us climb out of the relegation zone despite our points penalty if other results go our way, so there is a clear incentive and motivation to really push and Shaw could be the key to victory for us if he isn’t up to scratch.

In other Everton news, Toffees duo could be targeted by European giants after “serious” development this week.
