Everton transfer news as Newcastle United track Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of summer move
Newcastle United are tracking Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in preparation for a permanent move next summer, according to TEAMtalk.
The outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (22 November) that a “shock” move for the Toffees striker is being planned for the summer transfer window.
Newcastle’s plan would see them sign a forward on loan until the end of the current season, before finding a permanent solution in the summer with Calvert-Lewin one of the names on Eddie Howe’s radar.

Calvert-Lewin is entering the final 18 months of his contract and Everton’s point deduction and impending takeover may make agreeing a new proposal difficult. The 26-year-old is willing to be patient and wants to help the club avoid relegation, but a run of good form could see Newcastle make a move next summer.
However, Everton will fight to keep the player at Goodison Park.
Keep hold
Whenever Everton have been without Calvert-Lewin over the last few seasons, they have looked a far weaker side, with the Toffees lacking a consistent source of goals or a physical presence at the top end of the pitch to pose a threat to opponents.
While Beto was brought to Merseyside to shoulder that burden in attack, the Portuguese forward hasn’t exactly hit the ground running in the Premier League as his wait for a first league goal continues after joining from Cremonase.
The Toffees’ reliance on Calvert-Lewin makes it vitally important that they keep him at Goodison Park not only for the remainder of the season but past the end of his current Everton contract as he can be the difference between relegation to the Championship and top-flight safety.

There will be a suggestion that his recent injury struggle means that a good offer cannot be turned down and the Toffees should cash in, but with only a year left on his contract come the end of the season, would the fee paid by Newcastle even fund the purchase of a replacement?
Hopefully, Everton will win the fight for Calvert-Lewin’s signature and ensure that he remains on Merseyside for the foreseeable future.
