Ex-Everton Scout blasts Farhad Moshiri and Goodison Park advisors as nightmare Bramley-Moore Dock scenario mooted

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Former Everton scout Bryan King has slammed Farhad Moshiri and his advisors for the huge sums of money wasted on poor transfers at Goodison Park.

Everton have spent over £700million on more than 50 players since Moshiri first arrived on Merseyside in February 2016.

Since then, the British-Iranian businessman has burnt through seven permanent managers and two interim bosses before hiring Sean Dyche earlier this year. Hundreds of millions have also been spent on poor signings, culminating in the mess the Blues now find themselves in.

Last week, Everton were docked 10 points for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, leaving them second from bottom in the table and in a relegation battle.

Everton are set to move into their new 52,888-seater stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next year and former scout King has mooted a nightmare scenario in which it’s opened in the Championship against a team like Rotherham instead of in the Premier League against one of the big-six clubs.

“The fear is, of course, if they go into the Championship, they’ve got this new stadium and they’ll need to sell it as if they’re in the Premier League,” King told Goodison News.

The tough thing for Evertonians is that Goodison Park is such an iconic stadium, as was White Hart Lane. But fans and people associated with clubs eventually move on.

If they go down and their opening game [at Bramley-Moore Dock] is against Rotherham in the Championship, it’s not going to be the same as opening it against Manchester City, Manchester United or Liverpool. That’s also going to be a motivational factor for players.

It’s all going to be decided at the end of the season.

For me, the problem at this football club has been the owner, Moshiri. I don’t know who he’s been listening to about bringing in players and spending money because my god, if ever there was a football club that’s thrown away money, it’s Everton Football Club.”

Moshiri has an agreement in place to sell Everton to US-based investment firm 777 Partners.

As it stands, the Premier League are ratifying the takeover but 777 have stayed rather silent since the 10-point deduction was handed out to the Toffees.

It’s been widely reported that the punishment will be appealed against and heard by the same committee members who dished out the points deduction last week.

In other Everton news, Gary Lineker has also lashed out at the Everton owner, who could be set to sell up to 777 Partners soon.
