Doctor issues update on Amadou Onana calf injury ahead of Everton v Manchester United

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana’s playing style has led to another injury which he picked up on international duty, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that due to the pace and power the Belgian puts into the game, the chances of him picking up setbacks are higher.

Onana even had to pull out of the Belgium squad during the international break due to a calf injury and remains a doubt for the Manchester United game on 26 November.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

He pulled out from the squad with a calf injury and now is a doubt for the weekend.

Difficult to say whether he’ll be out or not for the weekend but calf injuries can be quite sensitive and Onana plays with a lot of power and pace as well which adds extra load to the lower body.

Very much to be determined as he’ll need to pass a late fitness test.”

Onana has suffered a number of injuries this season but none of them have kept him out for a long time.

He’s undoubtedly been one of the best players since Sean Dyche has taken over and has been, in many ways, the ideal midfielder for him.

It remains to be seen whether or not he passes a fitness test ahead of the United clash as his absence will be felt if he does not.
