Ex-Everton employee drops Alisher Usmanov and Manchester City financial verdict amid Goodison development

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King doesn’t understand why Everton have been deducted 10 points while there are still doubts about whether Chelsea or Manchester City have also broken the Premier League’s financial rules.

Sean Dyche’s side was sent into the relegation zone of the Premier League earlier this month after they admitted to being guilty to breaching the league’s profit and sustainability guidelines.

The Blues are appealing against the decision with fans making their distaste well known on Sunday (26 November) ahead of and during the defeat to Manchester United.

Former Everton scout King believes his old club’s recruitment has been shocking with Farhad Moshiri in the highest position of power at Goodison Park.

But he doesn’t believe he, nor former business partner Alisher Usmanov, have done anything near as bad as what’s allegedly been going on at the Etihad or Stamford Bridge.

“The kind of recruitment that’s been going on there for the last two and a half years has been very poor,” said King in an exclusive interview with Goodison News.

Players have been brought in and players have been moved on for fees which just don’t make sense, to be honest.

But the thing that worries me with the whole thing is, why Everton after Manchester City and Chelsea have been accused of wrongdoings and overspending?

Moshiri and Usmanov, their deals seem to be no different to the way Man City’s dealings have been handled and the way Chelsea’s have been handled.

Everton’s is a result of total mismanagement of spending and buying players.”

Usmanov was helping Moshiri to fund Everton, both on the pitch and off it with the costs relating to the construction of the new stadium being helped by the Uzbeki billionaire.

However, due to Usmanov’s ties to Russia, the relationship was severed due to the UK government’s sanctioning of Russian oligarchs in light of the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

In other Everton news, Gary Lineker has lashed out at Moshiri, who could be set to sell up to 777 Partners soon.
