Idrissa Gueye sends five-word message to Phil Jagielka as former Everton ace announces retirement
Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has sent a five-word message to Phil Jagielka after he announced his retirement from football.
The former defender enjoyed a lengthy career in the Premier League with the Merseyside outfit and Sheffield United.
Jagielka, who made 40 appearances for England, also represented Derby County and Stoke City in the Championship.

Taking to social media to announce his retirement, Jagielka posted on Instagram on Tuesday (28 November): “It’s official. 805 and out.”
Among those sending messages to the former defender was current Everton star Gueye, who commented: “Captain Phil Jagiellllllllka happy retirement.”

Jagielka enjoyed a very long and successful career in English football, with the majority of his appearances coming for the Toffees.
Having started out at Sheffield United, the central defender went on to make over 300 appearances for the Goodison Park club between 2007 and 2019. It was there that he played alongside Gueye during the midfielder’s first spell at the Merseyside outfit.
Jagielka was clearly a very popular man, with the defender receiving plenty of messages of support following his decision to hang up his boots.
It remains to be seen what the 41-year-old will do now, but he can certainly rest in the knowledge that he gave his all to a number of top clubs, as well as the Three Lions.
He will, of course, be warmly welcomed back to Goodison Park, with Jagielka having captained the club for a spell when David Moyes was in the dugout.
In other Everton news, Peter Reid has shared what drove him “mad” about the 10-point deduction handed to the Toffees.
