BBC Sport share how sources point to Sheffield Wednesday as Everton appeal decision made
BBC Sport sources have pointed to the Sheffield Wednesday points deduction three years ago after an Everton appeal decision has been made.
The news outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (29 November) that sources believe the Owls committed a “much clearer breach” than the Toffees before their 12-point deduction was cut to six points following an appeal.
It comes after the news has emerged that the Blues will submit a formal appeal over their 10-point deduction by the time the deadline comes around on Friday (1 December).

“Sources have pointed to Sheffield Wednesday receiving a 12-point deduction three years ago for a “much clearer breach” on spending rules over the sale of their Hillsborough Stadium, with that sanction being halved on appeal,” said BBC Sport.
Reason for optimism
It’s no surprise to see that Everton will be appealing against the decision ahead of the deadline on Friday after making it clear they are disappointed by the ruling.
The club will be confident that they can at least have their punishment reduced after being completely transparent with the commission throughout the hearing.
This latest development about Sheffield Wednesday also provides a reason for optimism after they saw their penalty reduced in half previously.

There has been a lot of talk recently about a precedence being set, so perhaps the fact the Owls had their punishment downgraded, there is a good case as to why the Toffees should be treated in a similar fashion.
It will now be an anxious wait to find out what the result of the appeal will be as it could have a major impact on the Blues’ fight against relegation from the Premier League this season.
In other Everton news, Jamie Carragher has shared a “huge” admission ahead of the game against Nottingham Forest.
