Everton: The Esk details ‘even greater uncertainty’ over 777 takeover at Goodison Park on Friday
777 Partner’s takeover of Everton may be set to face even greater “uncertainty” after the latest legal probe into the American firm’s activity, according to The Esk.
The Everton financial expert, who has been featured in the Daily Mail, reported via their Twitter account on Friday (1 December) that any takeover could be thrown into doubt after reports emerged that a federal prosecutor is overseeing an investigation into 777 Partners.
Reports emerged from Semafor (30 November) that a Department of Justice team is probing whether or not 777 Partners have violated money-laundering laws as it rose quickly from an unknown investor to owners of major sports teams around the world.
The Esk has suggested that these latest developments could be incredibly harmful to 777’s prospects of taking over Everton as the FCA, the Premier League and the FA continue to investigate the Miami-based firm to decide whether they are fit and proper owners.
Bad news
You would have to imagine that a company being investigated for breaching money laundering laws won’t be deemed fit and proper owners by the Premier League and the FCA, but currently, 777 remain very confident that they will be able to complete their takeover of Everton.
Everton supporters may not like Farhad Moshiri and the current owner at Goodison Park deserves plenty of criticism for how he has run the Toffees, but it doesn’t seem as though 777 would be any better for Sean Dyche’s side given their shady financial background.

It has taken a long time for the Premier League and company to investigate 777 Partners as they consider whether or not they are appropriate owners for Everton and it feels like this could well be petering out as more and more information is revealed about the American firm.
Although the financial state at Goodison Park remains incredibly bleak and will continue to until Moshiri finally departs Merseyside, it doesn’t appear as though a takeover by 777 would do much to aid that cause. Instead, it could just make things worse.
