Jarrad Branthwaite to choose who he wants to sign for as forced Everton exit inevitable

Jarrad Branthwaite is expected to have a choice of clubs to join when he leaves Everton, according to talkSPORT.

The radio station reported on Friday (1 December) that it’s inevitable Branthwaite, 21, will leave Goodison Park due to major financial issues at the Merseyside club.

It is understood that the centre-back is wanted by Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham.

TalkSPORT add that Everton tied Branthwaite down to a new contract to keep his transfer value high and not with any sort of expectation that he’ll stay at Goodison Park.

The Blues are aware that they “will have to cash in sooner than later to help ease their financial woes”.

Cannot happen in January

If Everton want to avoid relegation this season, they need to avoid selling players who are starting every week.

Yes, there will be financial implications for not selling players in January if acceptable offers come in for them. However, there’ll be a cataclysmic cost if the club is relegated to the Championship.

We simply cannot be relegated this season because that means our new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock will be opened against a team like Plymouth instead of one of the big guns in the Premier League.

And then there’s obviously the financial cost of the stadium and the fact our wage bill is completely unsustainable in the Championship.

Points deductions and administration would probably be the least of our worries.

Branthwaite has been superb this season and cannot be sold.

He’s arguably been our best player and under Sean Dyche, he’s looking like he’s capable of getting in the England squad despite our lowly position in the league.

We accept that he’s likely to be sold but let that happen in the summer, please.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are set to sanction another exit for a player they signed for £20million.
