Everton ‘indebted’ to Jordan Pickford after ‘heroics’ in win v Nottingham Forest – BBC Sport journalist
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford produced “late heroics” in their Premier League victory against Nottingham Forest.
That is the view of BBC Sport journalist Timothy Abraham after the England ace made two vital interventions in the 1-0 win.
The Merseyside outfit left the City Ground with all three points on Saturday (2 December) thanks to Dwight McNeil’s goal.

“Forest threw everything at Everton’s goal as the game headed towards the final whistle and the visitors were indebted to Jordan Pickford’s late heroics,” Abraham wrote for BBC Sport (2 December).
“The England goalkeeper raced off his line to make a tackle to deny Anthony Elanga and produced a fine diving save to keep an effort from Murillo.”

Star man
Toffees winger McNeil has deservedly taken plenty of plaudits for his superb match-winner at the City Ground, with the former Burnley man smashing the ball home in the 67th minute.
The visitors would not, of course, have won the match if not for his heroics, but the man in between the sticks also deserves plenty of praise for his actions at the other end.
Pickford came to his side’s rescue in Nottingham, with the shot-stopper yet again proving just how crucial he is to Sean Dyche.
Clean sheets have not been easy to come by for the Toffees in recent years, so Pickford will certainly be celebrating this one.
But those celebrations cannot last too long given the huge period for the Merseyside club, with tricky tests against Newcastle United and Chelsea on the horizon.
The man in the Goodison Park dugout will undoubtedly rely on the England number one to produce many big stops in those games as the Toffees chase more points.
In other Everton news, Alan Shearer was stunned by “mad” Toffees footage from their match with Nottingham Forest live on BBC.
