Stephen Warnock amazed by scenes after Nottingham Forest v Everton match, Sky Sports share footage
Stephen Warnock admits he was surprised to hear Nottingham Forest fans turn on their side following defeat to Everton at the weekend.
The Toffees secured a vital 1-0 victory at the City Ground on Saturday (2 December) to move to within two points of Premier League safety.
Forest boss Steve Cooper was under pressure prior to the game, and even more so come full-time as home fans made their feelings clear.
Sky Sports Premier League shared footage of the scenes at the full-time whistle on their official Twitter page [2 December]
Asked about that reaction on Sky Sports News [4 December, 12:56], Warnock said: “I was just like ‘what’s going on?’. He’s done an incredible job.
“It’s the first time I’ve heard a sense from the fans they are disappointed in the team. Steve Cooper has done an incredible job.”
Fickle
Everton’s win in Nottingham was huge for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it means we are now within touching distance of Luton Town once again.
Secondly, it ensures Forest stay in relegation danger, meaning another team to potentially save the Toffees from the drop.
On the basis of results and performances over the past two months, the hope is that Everton will now finish well clear of the bottom three.

And if Forest’s form is anything to go by, it will not be too long before we are overtaking them in the table.
Cooper is clearly a man under pressure, which seems strange from an outsider’s perspective as he has worked wonders at the City Ground.
Football supporters are a fickle bunch, though. Indeed, it was not long ago that some were asking if Sean Dyche was the right man for Everton.
Whether Cooper stays or goes is pretty irrelevant to Everton. All the Toffees can do is continue winning games and slowly climb up the table.
