Everton takeover news: £550m 777 Partners deal set to be completed imminently

The Everton takeover is “on track” for completion before the end of the month despite reports it is set for collapse, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet reported via their website on 11 December that “senior sources” at Goodison Park expect the deal to be done in the same month, which “suggests” that could mean by 22 December when clubs usually conclude business dealings for Christmas.

There are said to be “several alternatives” to the American firm who want to buy Everton but 777 are in line to complete their buy-out of Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% share in the club in a £550million agreement.

Multiple reports have emerged in the past week suggesting the takeover agreement was in trouble, with sources close to the deal considering it “unlikely” according to Josimar (7 December),

It has also emerged that 777 are ready to end their month-to-month funding of the club after January amid delays to the process, according to The Times (7 December).

Back and forth

It certainly seems that different people involved in this takeover process have wildly different perspectives on the matter.

Clearly both sides can’t be right and ultimately either 777 will complete the move or they won’t, so sooner or later it should become clear what the answer is.

With such differing viewpoints emerging from different sources it is difficult to predict what will come next in an official capacity.

There does tend to be more financial reasoning over 777’s business empire to the sceptical viewpoints, while the positive reports seem to hinge more on straightforward confidence it will get done.

If 22 December is truly a potential deadline to the expected window then one way or another it will become clearer in a short time.

Should that date pass without an outcome then it will be little more than a week until the start of 2024, at which point doubts would surely increase.

It looks like it is going down to the wire for the planned timeframe if it is to get done, but there is apparently confidence in certain circles still.

In other Everton news, the UK government want to be assured that one man is entirely cut out of the takeover deal.
