Pat Nevin names Sean Dyche as candidate for Premier League honour amid sudden Everton development
Pat Nevin has named Everton boss Sean Dyche as a candidate for the Premier League manager of the season.
Writing for the BBC Football Extra newsletter on Tuesday (12 December), the pundit said the Toffees would only be four points off European football if it wasn’t for their 10-point deduction for breaching the league’s spending rules.
He added that there is a “decent argument” for the Blues manager to receive the top managerial honour this season as the Merseysiders suddenly look “solid” after battling to avoid relegation over the past couple of campaigns.

“Everton would now be only four points off European football if it wasn’t for their recent 10-point deduction,” said Nevin. “Right now, there is a decent argument for Sean Dyche to be manager of the season alongside Ange Postecoglou and Unai Emery.
“They have struggled against relegation for the last two years solid and suddenly they are solid themselves. What a job.”
Night and day
The performances from the Everton players over the past few months are like night and day from what they had previously served up over the previous couple of seasons.
Dyche has brought a togetherness and solidity to the side that is proving to be extremely effective, with the results starting to back up their displays.
The 10-point deduction was a huge blow for the club, but the Toffees boss ensured that it didn’t have a negative impact on the team and they have come out the other side stronger.

The Blues have now recorded three straight wins and clean sheets in each of those matches, showing the progress that has been made at both ends of the field.
They certainly won’t be looking to stop there, though, after opening up a four-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone as there will be plenty more they want to achieve this season.
