Everton fans will fear the worst after Ange Postecoglou transfer comments at Tottenham

Everton manager Sean Dyche has created a strong sense of unity among everyone at Goodison Park in recent times.

And it was certainly needed after the Toffees were dealt a huge blow, having been deducted 10 points for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Since that punishment, they have Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and Chelsea, having also lost to Manchester United.

But Dyche will be focusing on the wins as opposed to the loss, particularly given how they kept clean sheets in those three victories.

Key to those shutouts at the back was young defender Jarrad Branthwaite, with the 21-year-old forming a very strong partnership alongside the more experienced James Tarkowski.

But worryingly for Everton, Branthwaite is now attracting interest from elsewhere, with Tottenham setting their sights on the Toffees ace ahead of the January transfer window, according to FootballTransfers (11 December).

But at the same time, they may just fear the worst given the latest comments from Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.

As per Fabrizio Romano (14 December), the boss has confirmed that the North London club want to sign a new centre-back in January, with Postecoglou saying: “We need to sign another centre-back though because at the moment we’re on tenterhooks in case something else happens there.”

The Tottenham manager has been forced to play the likes of full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Royal in central defence lately given the club’s current injury crisis, but it seems that he is not keen to adopt that approach for much longer.
