The Esk shares 777 Partners update on Everton takeover
777 Partners’ takeover of Everton football club has no chance of being completed, either before or after Christmas, according to The Esk.
The Everton financial expert, who has been featured in the Daily Mail, reported via their Twitter account on Wednesday (20 December) that they see no way that the Miami-based investment firm can acquire the Toffees before the festive period or even later.
This comes after reports emerged that top British Sports agency Redstrike had dramatically cut ties with 777 Partners, citing a breakdown in the business relationship, throwing the American firm’s proposed takeover into even more doubt [Daily Mail, 20 December].
Writing on Twitter (20 December) they replied to a question asking whether the takeover would be approved before Christmas, replying: “No, not at all, before or after Christmas.”
Long road ahead
It isn’t too often that The Esk gets something wrong when discussing Everton and their finances and if they are once again correct with their statement that 777’s takeover at Goodison Park won’t be completed under any circumstances, there could be a long road ahead for the Toffees.
Nearly everything that has emerged around the American firm since they agreed a deal to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in the Toffees has put them in a bad light and it feels like this will ultimately result in their takeover being denied by the Premier League.

Moshiri has run Everton incredibly poorly throughout his tenure so it is only natural that supporters want to see the back of him at Goodison Park, but 777 doesn’t appear to be a much more stable option for the Toffees considering the track record.
The worry for supporters will be that should this deal fall through, administration could become a very real possibility for the Toffees. Everton will need to hope that a different new owner can come and save them from such a crisis.
Still, nothing is confirmed as of yet and the Premier League are still conducting its own due diligence. Judging by how this deal has panned out so far, there could be plenty of further twists in the tale.
