Everton: Willy Gnonto ready to change agent after failed Goodison Park transfer from Leeds United

Leeds United forward Willy Gnonto is considering changing his agent following his failed move to Everton over the summer, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reported on its website on Thursday (21 December) that there is a question mark over whether the Italian international could leave Elland Road in January after the Whites previously blocked a move to Goodison Park.

But it added that Leeds, who regard the forward as “phenomenal”, have considered offering the 19-year-old an improved deal if he is willing to commit his future to the club as the January transfer window approaches.

No surprise

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to hear that Gnonto is considering switching his agent after the saga that unfolded following his failed move to Everton over the summer.

The forward, who has been forced to settle for a place on the bench over the past couple of months at Elland Road, was extremely keen to join the Toffees, but Leeds were determined to keep hold of him and refused to even consider letting him leave.

That led to the Italian downing tools and refusing to play for the Whites, a decision that probably wouldn’t have impressed Blues boss Sean Dyche.

It seems unlikely that the Merseysiders would consider going back in for him in the January window due to the previous situation, their noted financial issues and improved form in the Premier League.

After finding little trouble in hitting the back of the net in recent weeks, there are probably other areas of the squad that Dyche would like to focus his attention on strengthening next month.

In other Everton news, a Premier League update has emerged in the 777 Partners takeover bid.
