Michael Dawson fumes live on Sky Sports at what he saw from ‘poor’ Everton v Tottenham

Michael Dawson was left fuming at how Everton conceded Tottenham’s second goal during their Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

The Toffees were looking to record their fifth successive win in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon (23 December) but made hard work of it as Spurs raced into a 2-0 lead after 18 minutes.

Brennan Johnson was found easily in the Everton box before his shot was parried by Jordan Pickford which allowed Son Heung-Min to notch the rebound and Dawson speaking live on Sky Sports (23 December) shared his dismay at what he saw.

He said: “The corner is played short, it goes into Johnson, he drives through the Everton defence like they weren’t there, it’s poor defending from Everton, he strikes the ball and it goes straight at Pickford who parries it and comes back out to Son seven or eight yards out and he just taps it in.”

Livid

Dyche will be absolutely livid at how Everton conceded that goes because Johnson was certainly in so much space, allowed to easily enter the 18-yard-box with no challengers whatsoever and put in a shot on goal.

It is really poor from the Toffees who have been superb in their defensive work in recent weeks, keeping four successive clean sheets to go with their four wins.

Everton

Certainly, Spurs are firing on all cylinders right now but that is no excuse to allow a player as dangerous and as potent as Johnson so much time to get a shot off.

Even the save from Pickford who has been central to those clean sheets looked unconvincing.

Dyche has really centred his work and influence at Goodison Park on good defending so to watch that, he will be fuming as Dawson was live on air.

When you defend as badly as Everton did for that goal, you’ll never have a chance of beating the top teams in the league, let alone winning games. So poor.

In other Everton news, a journalist has shut down a “far-fetched” Toffees transfer for one international ace.
