Ex-Everton employee shares what he’s heard people say about 777 Partners takeover at Goodison Park

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King believes buying and selling players is the “last thing” Everton are thinking about at this moment in time.

The verdict comes amid the ongoing issues at the Goodison Park outfit, such as the construction of the new stadium and the appeal of the 10-point deduction.

Despite the deduction, King is confident that Sean Dyche can guide the club to Premier League safety after their struggles in the competition in recent years.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “I think Everton need several players in several positions to be honest. But at the moment Dyche is getting results with what he’s got.

“The last thing on Everton’s mind at the moment is thinking about selling or buying players, because they could still be charged with further infringements on the fair play rule. They have got to be careful now. They haven’t got the money anyway. What kind of money are you going to get for Jarrad Branthwaite, for example?

King has also heard rumours that the 777 Partners takeover won’t be completed at Goodison Park, which raises further questions over whether or not players can be signed in January.

The former Everton employee added: “The 777 takeover, that is still not resolved. People are saying it won’t go through. They’ve got the new stadium they need to pay for. There are a lot of things going on at Everton at this moment in time.

“Getting to the EFL Cup final would have been a great boost for them, but now it’s the fight for survival, which I think they will survive.”

In other Everton news, Darren Bent is “surprised” that “bigger clubs” have not made a move for one “brilliant” Toffees player.
