Yerry Mina sends message to Andre Gomes after Everton 2-1 loss v Tottenham
Former Everton defender Yerry Mina has sent a message to Andre Gomes after his goal against Tottenham Hotspur.
The midfielder scored his club’s only goal as they lost 2-1 away to the North London club on Saturday (23 December).
Son Heung-min and former Everton attacker Richarlison scored for the hosts in the Premier League encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Gomes took to social media to thank Everton fans, with the midfielder posting on Instagram (23 December): “Not the result we wanted but we didn’t stop fighting for something more. Missed this matchday energy and already looking forward for more! Thank you for your support, Toffees.”
Among those sending messages to the Toffees midfielder was former Goodison Park defender Mina, who currently plays for Fiorentina.

Narrow defeat
Everton can be very proud of their efforts against Tottenham, with Sean Dyche’s side well in the clash in North London for the entire 90 minutes.
They may even feel that they should have won the match given their efforts on goal, with the hosts constantly under threat.
Gomes meanwhile can be proud of his display, with the midfielder having entered the pitch as a 24th-minute substitute for Idrissa Gueye.
Given his injury issues, it was a first Premier League appearance of the season for Gomes, but it probably won’t be his last given his efforts in midfield.
Sean Dyche will be delighted at the display of the 30-year-old, who now represents a great option for the Toffees, either from the start or from the bench.
And the manager will need such players to maintain their efforts in the months to come as the club look to distance themselves from the Premier League relegation zone.
In other Everton news, Darren Bent is “surprised” that “bigger clubs” have not made a move for one “brilliant” Toffees player.
