Everton: Michael Owen shares what he knows about Jarrad Branthwaite exit from Goodison Park
Michael Owen has claimed there are plenty of clubs tracking the progress of Jarrad Branthwaite at Everton after his impressive displays at Goodison Park so far this season.
The former Liverpool striker also claimed Branthwaite’s move from Carlisle could prove to be one of the best signings ever for Everton with the money spent compared to his performances.
Owen spoke glowingly of the defender, with high hopes for his development and the player he could become at Everton given how much he has impressed already with the Toffees.

Speaking live on the Prime Video coverage of the game [27 December, 7:34pm], Owen insisted: “He could be one of the best signings ever around here. There’ve been some great signings, real value signings here in the years gone by, but this kid could be very, very special.
“I know there’s an awful lot of people already looking at him. He looks pretty special.”
He could hit those rights at Everton
If Branthwaite continues on his upward trajectory, nurtured during his time on loan at PSV and honed under the guidance of Sean Dyche at Everton, the natural progression of his career would likely see him take another step up to one of the top Premier League clubs.
However, there shouldn’t be any rush to make that move immediately. Certainly not in the January transfer window, at least. His best option may be to remain at Goodison Park and continue his development where the club have already proved they can help his progress.
There feels like there is a consensus around Everton that he will leave eventually, but he could be convinced to stay and continue his development until he is fully prepared to make the step up.

With the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City both reportedly sniffing around, it will prove difficult for Everton to hold on to Branthwaite, but for the immediate future of his career, staying on Merseyside may be best for him.
In other Everton news, an exit-linked star has already spoken about a potential move.
