Ex-Everton employee shares what he’s heard about further FFP punishment, ‘there must be more to come’
Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…
Former Everton scout Bryan King says he “keeps hearing” Everton could face further punishing for breaching Financial Fair Play rules and thinks other clubs are bound to be affected.
The Toffees were hit with a 10-point penalty back in November after being found guilty of flouting the Premier League’s profit and sustainability guidelines, a ruling the club have challenged.
The Mirror wrote on November 20 that Everton could be punished again if their next set of published accounts show they have failed to stay within the limits.

King thinks that it will not just be Everton fearful of repercussions due to the “exorbitant” fees spent on player transfers in modern football.
Speaking to Goodison News, he said: “It should have been stopped last season or it should have been started last season to be honest.
“I think there could be quite a few clubs that end up with problems for the start of next season. It’d be funny if about six of them start with minus points wouldn’t it?

“All the clubs, fees have been totally inflated – Newcastle, Manchester City, Manchester United – I mean look at the fees Manchester United have paid, exorbitant amounts being used.
“I keep hearing that Everton could be deducted more points because of the way they’ve conducted their business. I think there must be a long list of clubs who are beginning to be a little bit wary and a little bit nervous of what’s going to be coming out of this because there’ll be more clubs that are having deductions.
“To hit one club with 10 points there must be more to come, it can’t just stop with one club otherwise where’s the fair play in it?”
In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has received another blow as an official statement ruled one ace out for most of January.
