Kevin Campbell names ‘fantastic’ Everton star Jordan Pickford in Team of the Season
Kevin Campbell has named Jordan Pickford in his team of the season so far after his performances for Everton since the ten-point deduction was delivered by the Premier League.
The former Everton striker pointed out how well the club have responded since they were dealt the points deduction, and with that in mind, named Pickford in his team.
England’s number-one goalkeeper has stepped up in recent weeks under Sean Dyche, proving why he is so important to both club and country with some seriously impressive displays.
Explaining his decision live on BBC Final Score [30 December, 15:33], Campbell said: “Pickford in goal, solely because Everton had the points deduction.
“Everton have responded to that and Pickford I think has been fantastic.”
Pickford deserves the praise
People are often too quick to criticise when it comes to Pickford and his performances for Everton, so for Campbell to name him among his team of the season after his impressive Goodison Park displays is some well-deserved praise for the shot-stopper.
Everton’s form has hit a roadblock in recent weeks, with defeats against high-flying Tottenham and Manchester City followed by a disappointing 3-0 loss to Wolves, but Pickford still responded when called upon, with 14 saves made across those three games. [Sofascore]
Dyche’s team have kept six clean sheets with Pickford in net so far this season – putting him top of the clean sheet list for goalkeepers. Pickford is joined on six by Liverpool keeper Alisson and Manchester United’s Andre Onana.

It has been an impressive first half of the season for Pickford despite the situation Everton find themselves in, and he has earned the praise from Campbell with his performances. He will be looking to keep up his form both for Everton and with Euro 2024 in mind.
In other Everton news, Campbell could not believe what he saw v Wolves.
