Everton want to sign Jesse Lingard on short-term contract
Everton are considering offering Jesse Lingard a short-term contract offer until the end of the 2023/24 season, according to talkSPORT.
Writing on their official Twitter account (2 January), the news outlet report that the Toffees are considering offering the attacking midfielder a “lifeline” to get back in the Premier League.
Lingard has been without a club since he left Nottingham Forest at the end of his contract in the summer, with talks with West Ham and Saudi club Al-Ittifaq collapsing since.
“Everton are considering handing Jesse Lingard a Premier League lifeline,” they wrote.
“The relegation-threateed Toffees could offer LIngard a short-term deal until the end of the season, talkSPORT sources understand.”
Wow
Well, that would be quite the shock for Sean Dyche, Everton and probably for Jesse Lingard too.
The Toffees were linked with a move for Lingard the last time he was a free agent after he left Manchester United but he opted to go to Nottingham Forest instead for a big payday on a short-term deal.
It didn’t work out for him there and he left in the summer, but since then he hasn’t been able to find a club despite the reputation that he has within the game.

Lingard has played 182 times in the Premier League and scored 29 goals throughout his career, so the Premier League experience would be a great addition to the squad for Dyche.
However there are plenty of options in his position already, which would likely mean it would be tough for him to get regular game time. It will be interesting to see, especially with talk that Arnaut Danjuma could leave, so this could be the replacement in waiting.
